Silverhawk...My Dad graduated from Cabin Creek High School. It's best known alumni is Jerry West. One year my Dad was selected as alumni of the year and we all went back to W.Va. in October for the school reunion. The hills were covered with golden leaves and it was gorgeous.

Jerry West kinda' made that part of West Virginia famous.....I graduated from West Virginia Tech, which is near there in Montgomery in 1960, as did my son.....and, to make the world smaller, my wife's mother once dated Jerry West's dad. They have a sign on the WV Turnpike saying "home of Jerry West". We drive to Charleston twice a year to visit my wife's three sisters who live in that area. I now live in Virginia, but still call WV home (Ronceverte, WV). Thanks for your nice response....I'm sure you were very proud of your dad and his accomplishments for the recognition. Did your visit in October happen to be a same weekend as the "Bridge Day" there on the New River Gorge Bridge at Fayetteville??
Here's a video I took in October, 2012 at Bridge Day and shows the leaves as you noted in your comment......

I'm proud of it as is all West Virginians
Years ago, my family took a ride on the Cass Scenic Railroad and visited the antenna farm at Green Bank. It was a most interesting vacation trip.
