I put up my first bird feeder at my house. So far the only ones using it are House Finches.
Purchase some feed that is for songbirds...will attract multiple species, including the house finches...

I love these... I've got 3 feeders and so far I have been able to capture everyone but the Bluejay.... we get Cardinals (black sunflower seed) Chickadees, Nuthatches, Wrens, House Finches, Yellow Finches (they love the thistle seed) even had an Oriole the other day (they like oranges) Try different seed and you will attract lots of birds. Good luck and looking forward to seeing your next set of shots.
The suggestion for the Song Bird mix is excellent advice.

Nice shots. If you go to a feed store, you can usually buy specific types of seeds and make your own mix. You may be ok back where you are with the wild bird mix, but here in California most of the mix ends up on the ground around the feeder because the species of birds out here won't, or don't feed on them.
It is usually always a winner with sunflower seeds. Next to teenagers in the classroom, many birds love them. The Niger thistle is perfect for the Goldfinches.
I am using both black sunflower seed and a song bird mix. May just take time for them to find it. Thanks for the suggestions. Looking forward to seeing more birds.
We have a few of those house finches like in your first picture here in Texas. I never knew what they were. Thought they were sparrow that somehow got crossed with a cardinal. DAAAAHHHHH.
Good set jam, really nice.

My birds are the same way. The premium Pennigton feed, which is heavy on the black oil sunflower seeds, gets all the traffic. The Pennington Classic, which is primarily a wild bird mix and heavy on the millet, is taking forever to use up. From here on, I'm gonna stay with the black sunflower seeds.
Black sunflower seeds are great...and for fun try unsalted peanuts in the shell...blue jays and woodpeckers love them.
