This is one of my favourite old houses in the area. I spoke with the owner at length who gave me permission to take the pic and she explained that the house is an old 'Queenslander' which she moved onto the property some years ago. I tried to photograph it numerous times in the Summer but the light never seemed right, but today I got what I was after. My problem, however is the powerpole on the left. The pole being there provides a balance which I like so I am keen to retain it. But the small section of black wire going from the pole I am not sure about. In a way I like it because it implies a continuation of the pic outside the frame but in another way it could be a distraction as it just sort of sticks into the frame. Its easy enough to clone out but I am in two minds. Be interested in any input to this or any other aspect of the pic.

I would leave it in because it goes with the old house, which is not perfect or pristine. This is just an opinion and I would go with your gut. Try doing both and compare side to side to see which feels right for you.

I find that the wire takes my eye out of the photo and hence I would take it out myself.
I also wonder about the satellite dish on the roof. It breaks up the line of the roof and I would consider removing it.

My eye was drawn to the red car immediately and that is what I would remove :)

Hadn't noticed the satellite dish but I certainly do now, dunno how I missed it. I guess thats why we post, other people's eyes. Have posted two more versions, first with wire and dish cloned out and second with a crop to remove the pole completely. Still not sure what do you think?
Linda, I would love to remove the car but I don't think there is enough material to build a cloned area without it being undetectable. The solution methinks is to go back another time.

In my opinion, both are improvements on the first rendition.
I rather like the pole in the picture but would consider cropping closer to it on your first rework above. It would then provide a left hand border to the shot.

You could replace the car with bushes & foreground directly to the right of it, it may take a little work, but I think it would accentuate the house over the red car.

Actually the box on the pole bothers me more than the wire. It IS a tough call re the wire though. I think I like it better as is than if it were cloned or cropped out. Some balance is lost if removed in MHO.
Saying that, your HDR rendition is, as usual, impeccable.

I think there is a lot more "story" to see with all the elements left in. It is a mix of "old" and "almost new". I also like the tone mapping.

With the wire cloned out, and the pole left in, the photo looks incomplete as the wire just stops at the top of the pole. This is not natural and will be noticed by viewers. I like the original version. If the wire bothers you, you might try lightening the wire a bit so it is less noticeable (more like a silver wire than a black one). The pole, the car etc just make the photo realistic. It gives the old house a grittier feel. If you want a prettier scene, by all means, return when there isn't a car in the way and reshoot it (if you can).

I like this image very much. The car doesn't bother me at all, the pole does. I downloaded the image and cloned out the pole. I like wide images and this is great.

Not a bad cloning job, no really obvious repeated patterns or smudges. And I agree, I like wide images they sit really nicely on wider computer screens.
