I rarely do people photography. I'm looking for easy to learn software for removing skin blemishes...

Thoughts?

I believe Photo Elements should be able to do what you need, you can also try Gimp, but not sure if there is a Mac version

What software do you have now?

If you are talking removing blemishes and not overall skin softening, elements would work great with the clone stamp. If it has the patch tool, that works very well also.

I must assume Gimp has a clone stamp and healing brush since so many say it is virtually identical to Photoshop.

For a no-brainer easy fix try Portrait Professional, currently half price (£20.00 Stg over here) It gives you an instant fix plus you can then play around with it if you want.

I use Elements for minor corrections and even the subject is (sometimes) none the wiser!

Yes! In fact I think Gimp's clone is easier to use.

EDIT: And an amazingly simple one for removing blemishes (and sensor dust) is Picasa's retouch tool. Even I can do it!

2d EDIT: BTW, they work backwards of each other. With Gimp, you select the area you want to copy then click where you want to put it. With Picasa, you select the area you want to correct then click on what you want to replace it with.
