The shots of the lions made me think this would be a good topic. Feel free to post your zoo shots! I also like seeing other shots.

The gorilla is great. I can never get good zoo photos. I don't have enough zoom. :(

I used my Canon 30D with the 300 2.8 with the 2X converter on it. I haven't been to the zoo since I got the Canon 5D Mark II. Can't wait to give it a shot. Thanks for your comments.

Ya my DH would kill me if I tried to purchase a new lens right now, he still has sticker shock from the 24-70... it cost more than our monthly house payment, lmao.
I'm still dreaming of a nice macro and a 70-200, we don't need to make the next couple of house notes right?

I understand that. The mill I worked in for 37 years closed and I was forced to take an early retirement. The 5D was my retirement to me gift. I have to really start saving for a nice macro. As for the 300mm my father and I had a long talk one day when I was visiting, he was very ill and he said when the time came he wanted me to purchase this lens before I done anything else. He knew I wanted this lens for many years. So when I am out with that lens I HAVE DAD WITH ME. I would much rather have him back!!!! But I know he is happy I done what he said.

That top shot is very nice.
The zoo pics appear real sharp! What brand and model is the 2X teleconverter that you used with your telephoto shots?
I have attached a few pics that I took a few years ago while at the St Louis Zoo. I used my Canon XT and CanonXTi with a 70-200mm f/2.8 IS and my 24-70mm f/2.8 lenses.

I use a Canon 2X and I think they run about $ 300.00. I also have their 1.4X the cost is the same. Nice job on these zoo shots. I like the top one the best!
Great pics, Hoss and Bruce your #1 Gorilla pics are fantastic, real nice work, here's my Ibox pic I like. And Hoss that photo of the peacock is beautiful. I use a sony cybershot.
I have a Kenko Pro 300 DG 1.4x TC which is really sharp and I am really pleased with it... I didn't have it when I was at the St Louis Zoo. I have read about the Kenko Pro 300 DG 2X TC and it has mixed reviews. They cost about half as much as Canon brands. The 1.4X Kenko is supposed to be on par with the Canon but I am not sure about the 2X. Thanks for the info on the Canon 2x.
Forgot to mention that the pic was also cropped...
200mm + 1.4x TC = 280MM
