Same thing as monitoring your credit cards or phone records.

Thanks. It is interesting. We are in a world where the privacy intruders can know more about you than some close friends, and the government is only one of many intruders.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama declared Friday that America is "going to have to make some choices" balancing privacy and security, launching a vigorous defense of formerly secret programs that sweep up an estimated 3 billion phone calls a day and amass Internet data from U.S. providers in an attempt to thwart terror attacks.

For now, the internet fails for me, until they in Congress repeal the law
it is a ultrage to privacy and freedom. So few dollares SAVINGS me.
Anyway I have to start studying photography and use a little more camera.
If all you did what you had the same problem.
All American Agency were better before the law.

NBC.com is leading with the story that the Obama administration is seeking criminal charges against the individual who leaked the information about the telephone and email tracking.

I watched a movie called 'Enemy of the State' (I think) which starred Wil Smith and Gene Hackman and although it was meant to be fiction, it was so close to the truth it wasn't funny.

The movie was first released in 1998, so just think how much more technology is available today

When you use social media it is out there for all to see. You give up your privacy when you make an entry. Just like I am doing now.

I seem to recall all the conservatives saying when the Patriot Act was being passed by a GOP house that if you have nothing to hide you have nothing to fear.

Now, after the initial act has been amended to make it more restrictive (in that a judge must approve of surveillance) under great pressure from the liberal side of the aisle, the right wing is taking great umbridge over the fact that the law they supported and passed is actually being used.

Hypocraisy has no shame when it comes to the right wing!

There weren't very many conservatives who thought the Patriot Act was a good idea then or now.

If that was the case, why did so many, on both sides, both support and vote for it?
Correct me if I am wrong, but was this not (the real president) Cheeny's baby?
And supported by most repubs?
I thought they were/are the conservative party.

Who is Cheeny and why do you assert that the Republicans are the conservative party? The ones in Washington are largely big government libs.

The saying of GOP house that if you have nothing to hide you have nothing to fear.

Is a plenty stupidity, Remeber Nazis, and Cubans; this guy has a stone fase and provably has the dictarship inside his head.

the PATRIOT act was about surveillance of FOREIGN communication, this has zero to do with Obama ( small o)
getting ALL records from telecommunications DOMESTIC users. Even a liberal could discern the difference between foreign and domestic

You're not safe doing that any more in Australia, as I've known people to be challenged for taking photos at the beach because we live in a sick society, although it's never happened to me
