I've been trying to improve the color of my photographs and get them more accurately represent the colors of my subjects. After looking around, I am thinking about trying X-Rite ColorChecker Passport. I have two questions.
1. Is it effective?
2. I am having a problem working with RAW in PSE 8. I have been unable to get the plug in to work. Would using the color checker be as effective if I convert my files to Tiff and use the color checker that way?
I'd appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks!
1. Yes it is. One of the best for color calibration of your camera for PP work. The software creates a profile for the lighting conditions you were in for your specific camera.
You apply that profile at the start in ACR.
2. The file format you are editing in has nothing to do with the color checker. Nor does the color checker have anything to do with subsequent PP work you may do.
If you are having problems with raw in elements, is it possible you are working a newer raw format that PSE 8 doesn't recognize?

Good answer above and the only thing I can add is I own one and it is something I find indispensable. I highly recommend getting and using one.

According to Adobe, it does recognize it but...after looking into the profiles listed,I didn't see D-50 or D-5100 which are my cameras. Oh Well.
Thanks for your response.
