Mike, I'm glade you enjoyed viewing my photos. Yep, I really like the 500 mm and my 70-200 mm lenses that I use for my bird photography. :) Arnold

nice work, especially on the hawk. the grebes look a tad soft, like maybe this is a crop from a long-range image? that wouldn't surprise me... those little buggers do not like to come in close... great pose in the woodpecker shot, too!

Arnold....I just bought a Canon 70-200 mm L 2.8 IS, but haven't had any good weather to use it as yet. I have a 500 mm for my old Canon FT 35mm film camera, but it's stuck in the closet....;0) Are most of your shots tripod, hand held, or both?

Mike, My 500 mm is a manual focus f-4 Nikon lens and I have it supported on a tripod or on beanbag resting in my car window. The 70-200 mm is a f-2.8 VR lens and I normally handhold that lens. Arnold

Rocky, Yes, the grebes were cropped into about 20% of the original size and I believe that is why it's soft. Also thanks for your comments on my photos. Arnold

Rocky, Yep, it was a very productive day for capturing bird images. The lighting was great which enabled to get some nice bird photographs. I also was a lucky this morning too. Arnold
