I photographed these at the lake at BTA. The big guy sat and posed on the rock for hours.

The big guy looks like an anhinga to me. These birds do not have oil glands to waterproof their feathers, so, after a dive, they "hang themselves out to dry". They can stay in that pose for a very long time. I don't know what the smaller bird is.

to my eye looks similar to a Cormorant, though more astute birders can be more definitive
