Just a question I use canon do kind of clueless to other brands.I was told by dome Nikon uses that you can use the SLR lenses on their DSLR cameras
I know Sony bought out Minolta.
Now my question is can you use old Minolta lenses on the new Sony DSLR cameras?
Any Sony users out there can give an answer?

I also have some Minolta lenses. I know they are compatible with the Sony alpha-series bodies, not positive about compatibility with newest bodies. I have found good info about what Sony cameras Minolta lenses are compatible with by checking e-bay.

These days, especially since the advent of μ4/3 cameras, you can use just about any lens on any camera with one of the many adapters available. Some combinations don't even need adapters. Of course any or all automatic lens features may be lost.

You can always use any lens on any camera with a T-mount coupler and a T-mount, but you will lose focus at infinity.

To carry an example to the extreme, for less than $200 for the adapter, I could mount a Canon EF 800mm f/5.6L IS USM Autofocus Lens on my Panasonic Lumix G3 body, or more correctly, I could mount the body on the lens.

It depends on which series of Minolta lenses you are talking about- if they are 'MC' or MD', they will mount with an adapter and be completely manual(focus & exposure). If they are Maxxum, or 'A' mount, they will function just the same as Sony 'A' lenses & any aftermarket lenses that are made to fit Sony Alpha cameras.
