I was sitting out in the local gravel pit trying to get shots of the swallows that had nested in holes dug in the side of a sand pile, when over head flew not one but two Medical Helicopters that seemed to land about a half mile away.
My husband was fishing near by so we jumped in the truck to see if it was one of the neighbors. It turns out is was someone at the nearby camp ground that had turned on a stove and blown up the motor home. We were parked quite a ways away, but I had my 400mm lens on the camera. The ISO was jacked up and there is some noise but not as much as I expected considering.

Thank you. And don't get me going on HIPA.
Thank you. I learned that you should always carry a spare battery even if you are just going for a walk down the road. :-D

Wish I had a pound for every time I forgot my spare.
Great shots! Beautiful color and great contrast. As a former US Army DustOff (Air Rescue / Ambulance) pilot those kinds of accidents with burn victims were very difficult on a personal level. I pray that the victim(s) and their family and friends are doing well and that the injuries ended up being minor.

Thank you. I am praying for the same, but as you know the reality is that being airlifted out is never a good thing. Hopefully the medics were erring on the side of caution and all will turn out well. I appreciate what it takes to do this kind of work and I know that I could never do it. I have seen the toll it takes on EMT's and firefighters when they come back from a "bad" run.
Well captured, hope all turns out well...
