Daylight Flash using High Speed Sync

Took these today as I am learning more about HSS. I used a Sony A57, Minolta 100-300mm Lens and Sigma 530 Super flash, TTL HHS Mode. Most of the images were f/5 or greater and SS of 1/1250

The f/stop controls the amount of light both ambient and from the flash. The SS controls the amount of ambient light only, so the fast SS + flash produces the dark background, with the foreground exposed properly.

Thank you. The images exceed my expectations. I am just learning HSS, I've have used it a few times before. it is tricky to get the aperture and SS correct for the exposure I want. am learning what settings to use so I can get faster at using HSS.

I hope your experiments will benefit all of us, I am itching to give it a go myself.

Thank you. I don't see it discussed much, so thought I'd post a few pics and the technique.

I don't have a speed light yet, but am looking forward to trying this technique when I get one....providing that is...that I can wrap my brain around how to do it!
