Nope! I'm waiting for official release. I want to keep learning LR4.
You get what you pay for. :D
Seriously, LR4 is fine for now. I'll get LR5 when it comes out.
The download as well as the program functionality expires June 7th.

I was just going to ask about the expiry date. Thanks.
They say that it's a bit of a crippled version at best. I think it's still full of bugs as well. I've read that about all it can do better than version 4 is brush tool, spot tool, clone tool and graduated filter tools are improved. I prefer to use CS for this stuff anyway.
Besides, I'm not sure I'm going to keep supporting Adobe by buying much more of their products. This Cloud thing really has a bunch of us bothered.

Google LR 5 and youll find a collection of websites that explains the changes from 4 to 5 plus a number of valuable reviews.LR 5 Beta is a free download and it youd be well advised to explore it. If you take hundreds, thousands, even, images a week, then there is no substitute for the LR cataloging system. I take relatively few images, but spend many hours pp a few. In consequence, I dont like the coercive force fitting of my downloads into their cataloging system which is not easily avoided. I recently returned to PS (CS6), which I find more to my liking. Nonetheless, even though 5 is a Beta version, there are some significant additions that I find invaluable and which, alone, might worth the price of the upgrade.
Jerry, I want to get LR4 but have a simple/beginner question. I do not use PhotoShop. MUST I use PhotoShop to use Lightroom? My intent is to use Lightroom for ingesting/cataloging photos. Not PP.
Thanks for any help.

Definitely, and for that, it's great. Once you start using it, you'll see how easy it is to work down the controls in the right column and make adjustments to your images. Adobe has good, free tutorials on their site. Bless their hearts. :D

Lightroom is freestanding - Photoshop is not a requirement.
Thanks Jerry and Searcher. I just didn't want to go out and buy Lightroom and THEN find out it was no good unless I paid for PS too. I appreciate your help
Downloaded and using every day...it's a huge step up from 4.

Why in the world would you get something that's specifically designed for post processing of photographic images, (and is stellar at that particular job, I might add)....and then not use it for that purpose?
