You can beat the crap out of your teacher in CA and not get suspended from school.... but god forbid a child too young to understand his crime bring a toy gun to school, he will be tortured insane zealots and then suspended for a lengthy spell. If I were the father of this child someone would pay a nasty price indeed.

Get ready Blurryeyed they will be coming out full force to support these morons. If they held my kid for 2 hours and made him wet his pants I would have a hard time not kicking someone ass. But good sense would tell me to do like most libs and sue the hell out of them.

Although I agree with this zero tolerance policy in all things is ridiculous and extreme and well, down right stupid what makes you think it's liberals fault for that? Aren't conservatives against drugs in school and in neighborhoods where there is also this zero tolerance philosophy that sends harmless people who make a simple mistake to prison and in many increasing cases private for profit prisons? If liberals are for drug use then who is it that created and voted in the so called and admittedly stupid 3 strikes law? Yes, this school BS is just that--BS. But it isn't liberals or ''just'' liberals that instituted it, a WHOLE LOT of conservatives are behind the 3 strikes law and the zero tolerance policies we see throughout this country.

Let me ask a simple question, who runs our school systems. I don't think that one can even begin to estimate the damage that may have been done to this child. This is something that he will carry for years and it would not surprise me that it may be a determinant factor in his educational performance.

As far as the rest of your statement, comparing this instance, which is one of many just a few weeks ago a child was suspended for the shape in which he chewed his pop tart, to a three strikes law which applies to felony convictions just goes to further illustrate the insanity.

In my opinion it isn’t the liberal, the conservative, the teacher, the principle or anyone else’s fault, to me the fault lies in our legal system and the lawyers that make it up. A teacher, manager, director, coach or whatever tries to implement some common sense and steps outside the written regulation he/she is in court and stands to lose everything they’ve ever worked for. If there is a buck out there to be made a lawyer is chasing it full speed ahead and if you don’t think so take a look at who makes up the vast majority of our government officials.

Teach our kids to just tell " name, age, and address " till they are allowed to see parent or guardian

Once I stopped my car in a turn lane late at night - emergency flashers on - no traffic. My son pointed out a big bug in the car - turns out it was a packing peanut that was moved by the summer breeze - open windows in the car. A Gwinnett Count Sheirff saw the unusual activity - so he pulled me over. As I was explaining to the officer what had happened with my son setting beside me. The officer noticed what he thought was a real gun on the back seat of the car. I was my son's toy gun. The officer dashed back to his car and called for back-up - about six cars showed up within minutes. I was ordered to get out of the car - they all had their guns drawn. So finally, it all got cleared up - I cooperated with them fully. But Lord be - these Toy Guns are a real big problem these days. Why by brother and I used to go everywhere with our cap pistols and holsters and cowboy hats. The bottom line is Americans don't really like their children - oh they claim they do but then they call their children rug rats and germ bots. See now what self respecting person would call their child names like that if they truly loved their children. I know I got five and I can't stand a dang one of them. This is America, and we are the only nation under God - them Ten Commandments don't apply to America - those only applied to Moses and his possy. So God wants Amercans to Kill and Steal - just ask the Cherokee. Why this is the reason God gave us GUNS in the first place the word GUN stands for God's Ultimate Noise. Even God will get in on the killing ever now and then himself - but God don't use Guns - he uses Trumpets - why he'll get his Angles together and they will blow little farting sounds into them trumpets and the walls will come down and fall on foke and killem right then and there. Yes sir. God means business. Them kids of mine are so mean - I try to stay away from them - so I'm always traveling working the Gun shows selling Guns all over these United States. I ain't got time for them kids, so they turned out mean as hell. Why when the old lady would come to me and tell me - well, I'm pregnant. I'd ask her - well, don't you want to lets get an abortion. She'd say - NO. I ask her why not - she'd say it's a SIN. I'd tell her yeah but that is just one sin - that youngon is gonna plop out and commit hundreds of thousands of sins - so want one sin be better than hudreds of thousdands of sins? But, she'd go ahead bring them creepy hellions into the world anyway. Somebody told me once maybe my kids would have amounted to something if'in I'd taken them to church - I toldem I did takem to church - that's where the two daughters got prenant - was at church that dang preacher and the choir boy did it. I asked the youngest daughter - how come she didn't tell daddy about the preacher molesting her - she told me it felt too good. So I ain't had a chance nor a break in this world. Why that dang last grand son - he's not but three years old - want ware any clothes - he just wares a diaper and his cowboy boots and he will kick the crap out of your chin bones with them boots. When that comes over - I just go hide in the closet. He still finds me and kicks at the door with them boots and says to me - come out of there gangdaddy - he don't even call me granddaddy - he calls me gangdaddy. That boy friend of his mama - went and got tattoos over about a third of the three year old's body - why he has a skull tattoo with cross bones right over his chest - and it says, "I ate Lucifer for Breakfast." Damn now what responsible human being would go and have skulls and flamer tattoos on their three year old kid. Why I'll tell you - they need to send that youngon over to Afghanistan or some where and let him kick them terrorist with them cowboy boots - them tattoos alone can scare the hell of them. Any way - I got to go get in the closets I here them coming up the drive now -I sure as heck don't want to get kicked today - Singing Off - Gangdaddy...

Another typical half-truth over-sensationalized Washington Post story.

Questioned for two straight hours? Really? According to whom, the parents? The Post conveniently ommits naming the source, as it would turn this into a non-story: a kid brings a mock gun to school, aims it a fellow students, is separated from the rest of the student body, and the parents are called. Nothing unusual.

I think this policy of ''zero tolerance'' and ''3 strikes'' law are both bullshit! It isn't the blame of liberals, and it isn't the blame of conservatives. It is the blame of an increasingly litigious society that refuses to accept blame on ourselves and feel the need to excuse our own behavior by blaming others that ''made us do it'' due to whatever reasons. So we as a society throw our arms up in frustration and incorrectly so and just say ''ok, here's the rule, live by it or be punished thusly'' without taking into individual circumstances, whether it's a homeless man stealing a loaf of bread that would otherwise be thrown out the next morning and spending 20 years in prison, or some little kid bringing in a 2 inch green plastic army man toy and being suspended. We have gone from one extreme to the next without any common sense in the middle! And maybe that's too much to ask for 300 million people to show common sense and as such many many societies have created governing systems that are strict throughout the world, but still, it seems there's a few that have demonstrated this ability for common sense. What really is the problem is this philosophy in America that ''I am this'' and if you don't agree you are my enemy politically speaking. ''I am afraid of you because you don't agree with me'' and you are again my enemy to be afraid of and we have allowed the two major political parties through their wealthy benefactors to tie these strings of fear and distrust to our shoulders so we continue to dance and play this game to their financial satisfaction. We are not liberal or conservative, white or black or brown, we are poor and middle class together with the same needs and same problems being played like puppets and stooges by the wealthy and powerful and corporations and they continue to play us against each other. Only when we realize and accept this reality will we achieve the society we all want. IMHO

Besides calling them liars...do you have any sort of direct evidence that would support your allegation of their deceit?

They quoted the mother...and I guess my question is; if you have no first hand knowledge of what the mother does or doesn't know...why would you automatically assume that she's lying exactly?

Actually, they attributed all of the quotes in the story.

If you think the school system is going off the deep end, take a look at our Universities, most Colleges in this Country are teaching "White Guilt". Although it's elective, a stupid liberal can choose one of these classes to find out how our Founding Fathers were a bunch of white, racists bigot's who took great pride in killing off the Native American's in this Country and believe me...there are enough stupid, brain dead liberals in this Country to keep those class room's filled.

That a 5 year old child bringing a toy gun on the school bus should make in beyond neighborhood gossip, all the way to the Washington Post, is commentary enough. Who made "zero tolerance" the law of the land?
On a related note, THESE are the people who are educating the next generation of American citizens! They appear to be doing about as well as the ruling politicians in Detroit are at managing taxpayer money.
If children can, indeed, kick the crap out of California teachers without consequence, then I say: "Let's have MORE of that!"

Let's see 300 million in America - compared to 3 billion in China. They seem to have their act together. One thing that this is not tolerated in China is lying. They put people in jail for lying. They have the right to speek freely - as long as they are not lying. Lie and you go to jail. For example: "Read My Lips" - get the forked tounge out of the way and the Common Wealth will flourish. This is actually a kind of treason against the Common Wealth, people made financial plans considering the "Read My Lips," mentality. Keep on Lying and bearing false witness - the the wealth will evaporate. Along with the moral fiber as well. Not to mention the mistreatment of children - I'm not a liberal but I will never again vote for the "Read My Lips" Party for they are too Repugnant. That's it they are the Repugnant Party.

This country and our legal system has proven again and again that the school boards are "above the law".
