Had to take some photos for a Lightroom workshop so went out in the morning and took these hand held on my NEX7 with 18-200 Tamron lens. I have ordered the Sony 10-18zoom and can't wait. pics were loaded into lightroom and the exported to photomatics and then back into lightroom

Nice try but I would suggest that you use selective deghosting in Photomatixs to remove the blur on the people/dogs/golfers and perhaps ducks. I think it will improve the image no end.

It's worth while spending time playing with a lot of the tools in Photomatixs. I'm always learning new things by just messing.

As the image was being slowly downloaded, I noticed a very soft/blurred halo around the trees whilst the sky was grainy. Must be the choice of processing or slider positions you selected. It has also left a fingerprint-like mark on the top left which may be worthwhile cloning out. I was also going to suggest pulling back the blacks and reducing the contrast, but it looks like you have done that in the latest image. Having the grass area in the foreground has given the image a nice depth and an appreciation of the size of the lake.
I'm envious of your new lens, a focal length that I am craving for. Have fun.
