Hi All
Up until a few months ago when I imported from my camera to my computer I got one file name, date imported. Now I get date imported plus these extra subfolders, Removable Storage, DCIM, 100NCD90 or CD7000 depending what camera used. I would like to remove the subfolders and go back to the date imported but I don't know how. I can't recall making any changes to my cameras menus. Is there any help out there. Thanks in advance. REJ

PC. I use Windows live photo gallery as a first stop to find out if I want to keep or discard the photos. the subfolders come up in whatever software I import to, that is why I thought that I messed up something in the cameras menu. TK's REJ.

It's not your camera. You changed the default file viewing options in Windows.

Control Panel
Folder Options
Advanced Settings
Files and Folders - untick the 'Display Full Path......'
Apply
Close

I was sure you had solved it. I checked every step you laid out, I even reset every thing I could to default settings. No luck. I spent the next two hours checking every thing I know about Windows 7 and I am still getting those extra subfolders. TK's REJ

What I gave you was the 'global' default setting.
Sounds like you've changed the Folder Options on the one you have your pics stored in.

Find the 'My Picture' folder [or whatever the one is you're storing our pics in.
Right Click on it
'Go to folder location'
Right Click on it in the Explorer window, go to Properties.
Customize
Drop down the 'Optimize for;' and change to Pictures. Tick the box 'Apply to all subfolders'
Apply, OK.

Press on. Now I got the main dated file and 4 subfolders filled with the same photos, the subfolders were empty before this last change. I just spent some time watching that storm around Oklahoma city on TV. WOW. REJ

Hi
Following your line of attack I went after any file in windows and photo live that said subfolders and I canceled it. This morning I imported a bunch and to my surprise I just got the one folder, no subs. I don't know what I did, as long as this computer works for photos I don't care. Thanks for your help. REJ
