After being on puppywatch for the last 3 days my baby pugs were born. They are born very dark and will lighten up as they get older. Mommy is taking a much need nap, babies are nursing and I am having a glass of wine. It is amazing how much they will change over the the next eight weeks.

Congratulations Puglover, hope all are healthy and the way it looks they are doing fine now. What is the PVC pipe for, I have never seen that in a whelping pen before?

They weigh between 5 to 7oz. There are only 5 puppies which is perfect for a first litter. I had cancer years ago and was going thru chemo. I told my husband I wanted an old lady dog. He was horrified. We got our first pug and fell in love with the breed.

Hi Gregory, the PVC pipe is so the puppies won't be smothered by mom. Mom will not be able to lay next to the walls of their whelping pen and smother them by accident. I bought a lot of whelping pens but was never happy with any of them. I came up with this and am very happy. I can bleach the PVC pipe.

Amazing the experiences available on this site. Now, suddenly, I know more about baby pugs than I ever thought I needed to know. How enriching. Thanks for posting. Have you named them yet?
