I'm looking for a telephoto lens(es) longer than 135, such as 200, 400 or even 1000. Contact manley.j2@verizon.net.
Thanks
What camera are you going to use the lens on?
Do you need A mount or MC mount?
I have a few 70-210/80-210 manual lens but not Minolta brand--if interestedI will get back with you on the specifics.

Check out the Minolta Maxxum 100-200mm f4.5 constant. It comes with some nice recommendations. Won't break the bank.
An old Minolta SRT (late 60s era). Have a 28, 50, 100 and 135 (all f2.8) which are relatively cheap at KEH but would like some telephoto (200/400 or even 1000) reasonably priced. Will the MAAXUM lens "work" on a manual like Nikons??
The wife and I will probably be moving to FL as soon as she can get me to retire and I like to take beach pictures and sunsets
Maaxum lenses are autofocus minolta lenses which fit some sony af cameras but rearch that because they are older lenses so most likely will not be useful with newer sony cameras. Older manual minolta lenses can be used on the older Nikons if you have an adapter. I bought one for my Minolta MD/Mc lenses and other brand 70-210 lens (manual) to use on Nikon manual lenses and maybe on my Nikon N80 or D70. I got a Fotodiax which contains a lens in the adapter so you can focus to infinity. Lots of articles on adapters on the web.
I have found older manual Minolta lenses at pawn shops and people selling their old gear locally. Many lenes for Minolta md/mc mount on Ebay but for a longer lenses with are Minolta brand are a little pricey. I also have a camera store in a nearby big city thats has have used minolta md/mc stuff for sale. Also check B&H, Adorama, and KEH Camera. I have heard good things about KEH used eguipment through various discussions on the web. I have bought a couple of zoom lenses off Ebay for my minolta but the problem with that era zoom lenses is zoom creap which can be pretty bad so if your going with a long tele better to get a fixed lens. I have a few 70-210/80-210 lenses off brand but I would like to test them before I try to get rid of any. Seems like every time I buy a used Minolta camera I get a 70-210 in the deal along with the normal lens. Good luck hunting. When I visited My Mother in St. Augustine we went to the Daytona Flea Market and there was a fellow their that dealt in used and vintage cameras. So in the larger cities in Fla. you'll find something or any larger city near you. Remember condition is evrything. Also what Nikon manual are youtalking about --the Non Ai lenses are not a fit for later nikons like FE or Fm--at least I think(somebody correct me if I am wrong please!) Good topic since I am an old Minolta lady. Thanks

Minolta Maxxum AF lenses do function fully on Sony Alpha Camera bodies. And they are generally accepted by many/most Sony Alpha series camera owners as very respectful "glass".
("A" mount lenses, not MD mount )
I am sure they are good glass--my minolta md/mc lenses have been very nice and very good quality. Thanks for the input--I am not familiar with Maxzum lenses--I went from minolta Srt202 and XGM to Nikon N80 and a Nikon D70. This site is very good reading indeed with every one's years of experiance. Thanks
E.P. Levine had a Maxxum one today for $29.00. Will try that and see if it will work on the old SRT. Will be good enough for a walk around lens. Thanks for your comments.
Minolta SRT @ the '60s. Belonged to a CMSgt I used to work with. Belonged to his father-in-law so there was some sentimental attachment.

SRT is a brick with a lens, great self defense camera.
I have 3 of them, bought my first in 72 another in 74. Still use them.
Keep them clean and they will last forever.
Good luck with them

check bower fixed aperture lens, it aint fast, but it will reach out to 500, 1000, or so for reasonable cash.
Check out ebay, they can be used on most any mount
Thanks for your comments. I changed the batteries and it appears to work.
Hadn't thought of the B & H cheaper lens. Thanks
