I love this pic, it would also look cool if you vignette it. This brings all the focus to the birds and will bring cool blue and green in the water.
Great pic

sort of like a cloud around the whole scene. a vignette is where theres a faded blended edge around the whole subject. just google it

The composition is fine. The birds are a bit overexposed however.

The birds are still overexposed regardless of the composition.

i'll repeat; the photographer was asking about composition, nothing else. give a little praise with your critique after addressing the ?

You can repeat all you want, but maybe you should instead try reading my initial reply in which I said I thought the composition was fine so I did in fact answer the question.

However I noticed in *your* initial reply you answered his question with a question of your own.
Not tremendously helpful there.

A great catch with three Egrets together. The composition could have gone from good to great if the entire reflection of the three birds was possible and then cropped to take advantage of the angles. Maybe it was not possible for this shot because sometimes you run out of water for the reflection to play its self out. The lines of the birds would then lead you through your entire subject.

Also as mentioned the exposure is difficult to achieve detail on all white subjects. You should be able to take care of this in PP.

I remember a time back in my film days, I seen a great white egret sleeping in a marsh. I stalked the bird for 45 minutes, silently wading hip deep in a nasty marsh until I was close enough to fill the frame with the bird. I snapped a whole roll of film as the bird awoke, stretched, then flew off. I couldn't wait to see the pictures! When they came back they were all blown out, I forgot to under expose for an all white subject.

Thanks for sharing.
