This is my daughter-in-law and my 15 month old grand daughter. I think I had the camera set for automatic since there where 6 adults and 7 grandkids running around. This is the orginal, B&W, and B&W with a touch of color. Which is your choice. Do you think I am ready to do this commercially?
My preference would be the color shot among the three and no...I don't think that you are ready to do this for a living...or professionally.
To actually be a pro is to be 100% confident in your ability to deliver...not just luck into a good shot...but to know how to craft an image that's compelling...something that will make someone want YOU to photograph them.
Do you know the exposure triangle so well that you can recite it backwards and forwards?
Do you know all of the creative techniques such as what settings to use in a backlit situation, to use to turn daylight into night...to light broad, or short, or butterfly?
I'm not being cruel...but being honest. I put myself in the hobbyist category because a pro isn't just someone who buys a camera and lucks out when he gets a good shot; that's a hobbyist.
Take a look at this webinar (free) by Roberto Valenzuela, and ask yourself if you are at this level...if not...then you aren't ready.

I am a fan of black and white especially for photos like htis but I do like the one with a little color as well. It focuses the attention on your grand daughter....which we all know is our point as grandparents!
By the way...I noticed that you are in Eighty-Four PA...I'm about 1:40 south of pittsburgh... in WV.
I looked at your profile, you say that you want to take quality "before/after" shots of your beauty clients...and I'd say yes..that's most definitely possible.

Personally, I do not like the bright t-shirt of the person standing behind them being visible. It's distracting. And is that a trash can on the left side? It's a sweet moment, for sure, but the photo itself isn't that pleasing to us strangers. It doesn't appear "planned well"...
I'm sure it's special to your family, tho, and that's what matters. I would choose b/w since it hides the messy back ground best.

You are right, it was just a special moment caught just at the second no planning. The trash can is just part of the gazebo and that is why I used Photoshop to remove all the other background distractions. Thanks.

Yes and it was 37 this morning when I got up, we should be 90 by Thursday. I wanted to go boating with the kids today???
The purpose of my post was to get advice on the post production. There are some that can be mean spirited and think that I am joking. I have found the people on the Shutter Talk blog to be much kinder and helpful.
