Very nice work, sharp looks great in B&W with an abstract feel about it.

Hi nbs :) I have often photographied shed feathers but the results always disappointed me when taken in isolation. The only time I have seen a feather photograph that exicited me was one of a Peacock feather in close to Macro. I think your shot is about as good as it gets. I did once photograph some very fine underbelly plumage and mixed them in with wild cherries and dandylion seeds and that was not too bad..good effort..tfp :)

Thank you my friends from England, I appreciate your comments. Sometimes the greatest images come about with the least amount of planning. For that shot I was on a stroll around the pond behind my house(where some mallards reside)when I spotted that sole feather laying on the green grass. I knew that I wanted to shoot it with a dark background so I simply held it with one hand against a shaded area and focused by moving the camera in and out(manual lens). It's actually a color image, although it looks B&W. No post processing done.

It just shows how colour can be deceiving, in your case leading us to believe it was B&W, there are many different shades of grey our brain interprets the rest.
