Whatever you do, don't leave the gate open!!!

This is a guy you do not mess with. I said excuse me sir do you mind if I take your pic? I took the fact that he didn't immediately flick aside the very flimsy gate and trample me to a pulp as his way of saying yes. Then a rapid retreat beyond a couple of stone walls and the pulse rate slowed. My wife loves the fact that she is married to such a brave hero.

Hope you like it. All C@C most welcome.

Peter

Great shot and good depth of field.
I am not one for HDR images, they can either look superb or over the top, but each to their own.

This is not an HDR shot nor is it even a pseudoHDR. All done with one pic and photoshop. The clouds, which are probably the most HDRlike, are deliberately over the top to mimic the old cartoon idea that if you showed dark clouds over a subject it indicates anger and danger. I guess thats just my vague and probably failing attempt at photograhic humour.
But I certainly agree that it is always a matter of taste when it comes to processing methods. Just grateful that we are all different, wouldn't it be horrible if we all liked exactly the same thing. But do agree about HDR. I have seen and also been responsible for some really bad HDR but I have also seen and strive to produce some truey amazing work.

Hi Peter :) As everyone must know by now, I am a complete coward when it comes to confronting nature..lol. I would have got my partner to pull up as near as possible to the fence and took the shot out of the passenger window, while she had her foot on the clutch pedal. That aside I do have to say that I am not keen on the processing, I too thought it was HDR and the clouds killed what would have been a great shot for me. tfp :)

Ahh now thats the sort of no nonsense feedback I am after, thank you, it is much appreciated. I have reprocessed and taken the sky back to its original. As you can see it is still quite chunky. My other option is, I suppose, to replace the sky completely with something a little less impending which I will probably do, just to see how it turns out. In the meantime, any thoughts about the second version?

If he didn't paw the ground, then you were perfectly safe. It's when they start pawing and snorting that you make a fast exit. This one just looks curious. great job!

I downloaded the first one and have decided I like it. No more changes are necessary. Bright blue AND cloudy, just like that bull -- yep, might could go either way! (If you're from Texas, you'll know that "might could" is just the way we talk 'round here.)
