Does anyone in UHH land create icon or ICO files to use as icons in web development? If so, what software will convert a jpg, tif, png, or any other image file to an ico file? Your help will be greatly appreciated. I am new to this so I don't have a good understanding of what is involved.

I am not an expert on this but I used a free program called Junior Icon Editor to make some Icons last year.

I see that it's a free download, but is it free to use? One stated drawback is that you need artistic skills.

It is free to use. I wanted to use a couple of head shots as icons. It works with BMP files. As I remember, I did have to resize them a couple of times before I liked the results. It starts with two icon pages that I closed (X out) before seeing the real program.

It did not display the ICONS made from this bmp file. I made a 24X24 icon and a 64x64 icon with no trouble.

If I wanted to use that program, I'd have to get my son to do the artwork.

I also did it with a photo of my wife. No art work at all.
Thanks for the info folks. I will give the program a try.
