I went back to my old set-up for these shots, at f/22 on a couple of them.

I moved him to a better location. Then I returned him to the flower where he lives. No cleaning.

These are terrific!! This is what I am trying to achieve - please tell me what resolution you are shooting at - 1:1 ? my works are 2:1 and not what I would want for bug & bee photos. Your DOF is fantastic. would it be OK if I send you a PM?

Hi Harvey I used my old setup. Canon 5d-2 canon 100mm f2.8 macro lens, 31mm extension tube. Canon 580ex2 flash set on e-TTL mode but increased exposure by +1 stop, home made defuser with paper towel over flash. ISO 100 f/22 shutter speed 200, pinpoint metering, manual focus. I was outside in direct sunlight. I hope this helps and yes you can private message me if you need any more info. I also use Photoshop CS6 for editing. I cropped about 50% and then I sharpened and adjusted white balance and exposure. A new trick I have been using lately is to make a duplicate layer and ad a High pass filter and then use overlay for a blend mode on that layer. I usually have to turn down the opacity on the new layer to about 50%. I like the effect some think it adds to much contrast.
