It appears that all they are doing is looking up the location in the exif data....

Only reason/time to have GPS turned on is to find out where you are on a map, or when using the maps for navigation. I always leave GPS turned off unless I am using the maps, and NEVER when taking pictures.

This is one of the main problems with FaceBook, as adults we might be concerned or at least aware about this but it is the last thought on our kids minds. Finally convinced my daughter to get herself and her family OFF of FB.

I did it too (unenrolled) but let me tell you I found out that the records of all the info you put in FB is going to stay there the only thing is that is not going to be published ! I got in the face book to find out about a missing family . I am out of that sh! thanks you for all the info ....I passed on to the family . gratefully JRV!

Flickr, Instagram, Photobucket, Picasa Web Albums, Shuterfly, Snapfish, SmugMug, etc. (and probably your personal website) all have the same problem. If I can see your exif data I may be able to locate you.

Thank you friend....for your info...but so many things are happening that it is scaring. I rather communicate this via that to go to FB or such domains! really I appreciate your suggestion. You may contact me anytime. I'm, here to my friends ! you are one of them! JRV now hackers are intercepting photos sent by email or posted in FB etc and can figure it out a lot of details abount the sender !!! did you read that ?! it is posted in this UHH some place...with video etc. JOE!
