NO, we should not expect to see this.

BUT, if we don't soon stand up .... that is exactly what we will be seeing!

I would send that photo to that young man's commanding officer, with a note that if nothing is done the local television station will get it next.

He may just be using his scope as binoculars to see what's going on around him. Maybe from that distance he couldn't tell it was someone pointing a camera at him. Can you tell us what was happening so we have some kind of context.

Scope or no...it's unsafe gun handling to point a weapon at a human...loaded or not.

Not if the human is a threat. How can people criticize anything without a shred of info about the picture?Oh I forgot I am on the internet.

Just out of shear curiosity, please explain to me how a gun that is NOT LOADED could be a threat to anyone at that distance. :|

I'll bet you anything, up to and including my life, that the gun WAS loaded!

Oh I sure you're right. I was commenting on the statement when he said "loaded or not". I understand the whole concept of thinking a gun is unloaded when it in fact is loaded and people are shot as a result but the fact of the matter is you can not get shot with an unloaded gun.

All weapons are to be handled as if they are loaded. Whether they are or not is't relevant.

A gun is only relevant when it is loaded, an unloaded gun is irrelevant.

How concerned are you going to be whether it's loaded or not if you're on the wrong side of it ??

Some have already seen this aspect of our federal government but your warning is absolutely correct regardless.

Just a simple question, why are there some many gun accidents or deaths resulting from the phrase I thought it was unloaded . Treat every gun as if its loaded is a basic safety rule and always make sure its not loaded .
I was taught not to point a gun at anything I did not intend to shoot the very first time I was allowed to handle a gun, and I was raised in the county and at least 1 shotgun was present at all times ( snakes, etc were common problems )
Not to mention my crazy ex wife pointing a loaded 9mm at me 15 yrs ago.

I agree that one should handle a gun as if it was loaded. My only point was that a gun that is unloaded is harmless. If you were in a foxhole how effective would you be with an unloaded gun. How many snakes would your shotgun kill if you had no shells? I'm not trying to make a political statement and I'm not arguing against gun safety, I'm only stating a very simple fact, an unloaded gun is not a danger to anyone. Accidental shootings do NOT happen with unloaded weapons.
