Eneloop Batteries

I have heard many UH comments on how good the Eneloop batteries are so I decided to give them a try. I have been using Duracell batteries but I suspect that their life expectancy is fairly short though I haven't taken the time to measure it. I will be using them in a Nikon SB700 speedlight. Looking them up on Amazon, there are two choices: the white 2000 mAh (whatever that means), and the black Eneloop X which is 2400 mAh. Which one is preferred?

Either would be fine....The 2400 will last a bit longer before needing a charge.

I have the Eneloop mAH 1900's in my SB600 and used them for the first time for pet portraits last weekend. Worked beautifully and I take many shots consecutively.

MAH = milli amp hours 2000 MAH will give you 2000 mill amps for 1 hr.
Think of it as capacity the longer the bat will last. Clear as mud right?

It stands for mili-amp hour and is a measure of how long the batteries are supposed to last. The higher the number, the longer you can use them before recharging.

The newest incarnation (White 2000mAh) though have a lower capacity are purported to be rechargeable 1500 times. The black version is either 500 or 1000 times.

And the Blue 1900mAh that I have say they can be recharged up to 1500 times as well. So many choices, so little time! lol

I have not come across the blue version - have they got a tiny venting hole (near the positive end)?. I heard the ones without the hole are of a new technology.

I do NOT see any hole at either end. Mine came from Costco. 8-AA's, 2-AAA's, 2-D spacers, 2-C spacers and charger for $23.89.

The black eneloop batteries are the premium ones. Higher mah output. Also, a bit more expensive.
