Is this possible

I had my sensor cleaned by a camera shop and noticed pictures not clear, a little blurry. At first I thought I was doing something wrong because I usually shoot in manual . I was taking pictures of my niece opening gifts at her shower and had it on auto and the pictures were blurry. Is it possible that not cleaning the sensor properly could cause pics to be blurry. I thought of sending it to Nikon to have it looked at.

Absolutely! A poor cleaning job can leave a smeared film on your sensor. ESPECIALLY if there was oily residue on it when cleaned and a "dry" cleaning was done.

D, sensors aren't that hard to clean, but anything is possible. Could have left some kind of film on it. Are they blurry as in out of focus, or as in not sharp?
Are they that way on your computer or the camera's LCD? Try setting to all defaults and try that. Lots of possibilities. Could be a coincidence and something unrelated going on. Call the shop and talk to them about it.

Before sending your camera to Nikon, call/email them about the issue first. The shop that cleaned the sensor may correct their mistake, if it's their fault, or try to cover it up. We don't know their reputation or service policies. Hope you get issue resolved soon so you can get back to shooting.

Yes, a poor sensor cleaning job will cause a blurred image.
I would take it back to the retailer and state you are not happy with the cleaning Job.
At least give the retailer the opportunity to put it right.

A lesson never clean your own, because you are in a VERY strong postion, they have to rectify it.

Hi D01nek,
I no I am not a Nikon Guy, I shoot with a Canon T3i/600D. I had a problem with spots on my sensor along with a weak focus problem. I called Canon about it and took it free of charge cleaned and also found I had a a little electrical short too with the wires. They fixed it free of charge, Yes it was under warranty still but I am sure Nikon is the same way I would think. Good LUCK.!!!!!

when you say manual and auto, are you talking, camera modes, or focus, is it possible the camera was set to manual focus, and you thought it was auto focusing, or in autofocus and your focus point got moved
