they lay eggs on the base of squash plants.when the eggs hatch they bore into the plant and eat and grow into a big grub looking thing.i usually can only get 1 squash per plant because of these.
It is a beauty, but I had to stop growing squash in our school garden because of them. We don't use insecticides.
