I've used primarily sandisk SD cards, but during a wedding last Saturday, I found 2 straight out of the package that were faulty. The 3rd worked fine. I tried both slots, ERR messages when inserted.(That's why I always take plenty) Anyway, anyone use Transcend, or other brands and are happy?
Not sure if I just got a bad batch, but for the price of sandisk, I can't believe that I've been getting bad ones. (this is NOT the first time I've had bad ones right out of the packaging)
BTW, shooting a D-7000, usually use 8gb class 10 sd cards.
Other camera D200 uses CF cards, so no problems there, other than expensive.
Thanks
bk
Not that I am an expert or anything, but I use PNY and have good luck with them. I had the same problem with Sandisk cards. I have also used the Transcend without any problems. I use class 10 cards I am sure there are probably better ones than that available. For the photography and equipment I use they work fine, no problems.

I had a problem with a card once and had to reformat it on my computer, have you tried that?

They might now be SanDisk cards. SanDist says one third of all SanDisk cards are counterfiet.
I use PNY and Sony.

I've used Sandisk, Transcend and Lexar SD and micro SD cards and have yet to have a bad card. Your Sandisks certainly may be counterfeit. Lots of stories like this
http://petapixel.com/2012/12/09/beware-counterfeit-memory-cards-being-shipped-from-amazon-warehouses/ on the web. If your PC "sees" the card try formatting with SDFormatter (
https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_ ) and then formatting in your camera. If your computer fails to recognize the cards then, yes, they are bad or counterfeit.

Aside from being counterfeit, did you format the cards in-camera before you tried to use them? Just asking the obvious...
I always use SanDisk or PNY cards.
Rarely have any problems. When I do, I try to format in computer. If that fails the card is pitched, if it works the card then goes back to the camera and formatted there. If the camera still has a problem the card is pitched. Have never had a problem directly from the package, but if I did, it would go back to the seller right away!

Not sure exactly why you have the extra computer format step? If you can't format in camera, there is little use for it. Or did I miss something?

Computer can do a FULL format, the camera only does a "quick" format.
If the Sandisk is genuine then return for replacement. I use Sandisk, Delkin, Transcend and have upgrade all to the fastest cards because that is what my camera need
Hi Bkyser.
I have six Trancend 16gb no 10 cards and have never had
a problem in my Canon cameras.Marto.

When I put one of my cards in the camera it said the card was full when in fact there was nothing on it, only way to fix it was to format in my computer.
I've had only one bad card ever, and it was a Transcend. I am currently shooting with a Transcend 32GB class 10, however, with no trouble.
I've heard from reputable sources that generic, Kensington, and SanDisk are the most counterfeited (which means, of course, only that you buy from a reputable source).

I would like to see photos of the front and back of the 'bad' cards. There are so many counterfeit cards out there.

Hard to do at a wedding. If it fails on me once, I don't want to risk having it happen again. Good info though. I may try it, and use the bad ones for photo frames or something.
