This was my idea for a tripod mount for my Iphone. I did order a plastic Iphone mount, but for now this works fine and you can build it from stuff you have in your shop.

Whatever works.

Can you use the phone part of it while it's on the tripod?

You can use it while it's on the tripod, but since I'm using it for time lapse photography, I set the phone in Airplane mode so as not to get any calls or texts while I'm snapping.

I've never used my Apple or Android apps for time lapse. I should try it.

Spare time? I spend so much time here, that I'm neglecting my other obligations. I mostly work around the house, inside and out, cleaning up, repairing, improving. Between the computer, cameras, cars, and TV, I'm living a very full life.

This is just what I was looking for!
It is hard to tell from your images- Do you use the tripod bolt to secure the plate with the nut?
Then, use the "Quick-Clip" PADS to secure the phone/cam to the "L-shaped" bracket, with the upright against the phone screen?
Am I understanding correctly, so far?
This looks like the upright would scratch the screen*
*If used against the back of the phone in the same manner, the quick-clamp pad would be on the screen and the upright in back of phone (possibly even using a small piece of rubber on the upright for additional grip).
If I have this wrong, please let me know. The videos on the osnapphotoapp page were great!

This set up does not scratch the screen, besides I have a protector on my screen. You can oder your own Iphone Tripod mount from Ebay if concerned.

It looks like the phone is in a clamshell case. Yes?
