Now that I know I can use the smc pentax-m f/2 50mm lense on my canon eos 300d. Is it worth buying the adapter & using the lense?

I believe there is an optical element in this adapter which will degrade the image. I have and use the SMC Takumar 55mm F2 screw mount on Canon EOS. No optical element and this lens is very,very sharp ! The 50mm F2 M lens was cheapened quite a bit - it is only 5 elements. The SMC Takumar is 6 elements.
