Have been reading the Forum for awhile, but this is my first post. I have a new iMac computer with iPhoto installed, but it doesn't do everything I was able to do on my old Microsoft Picture It Pro 9 software. Has anyone used the advanced iPhoto "Aperture" software to edit photos? I'm wondering if I should get it or Photoshop--or another program that isn't too hard to learn. Thanks for your help!
You can download Aperture 3 for about $80 from the Apple store, or pay $160 for the disk. I've had for three months now, still learning. Like what it does for me, I don't want to spend a few years learning a software to edit photos. I use Youtube tutorials to learn and search for any question I might have about Aperture. It's great for arranging your photos, by hour,by day, month, year, subject, the list goes on and on. The more I learn the better I like it. You can also try free download for 30 days.
I've been using Aperture since it first came out. I love it. The plug in list is growing and it does everything I need to get the job done. I like keeping my Mac in the Mac world, so far it runs flawlessly with no hick-ups. Download the trial for free, I think you'll love it.
I have to agree, Aperture is a great program. I only use Photoshop to remove blemishes on my portraits. I use Silver effects for black and white. As long as you get it right in camera(focus, etc..) you can do a lot with aperture. I use it to do most of my editing. I just did a senior photo shoot i would like to post here, but for some reason I can't post.

I concur. I have been using it for about 6 months and also use the U tub tutorials . I am becoming more comfortable with it the more I use it. It allows me to do a enough editing to really goof up a good photo :P
I have both. Aperture can do wonders with your photos but Elements has layers which sometimes are needed. Together they will cover virtually anything you would ever want to do. I would, however, use Aperture to keep track of my photos.
