Burn area Newbury Park Ca.
You all may have heard of the fires in the Newbury Park area (part of Thousand Oaks) a short while ago.
I was just there today to take photos of a property and stopped to capture some of the burned area. This was very, very close to homes, but the firefighters are incredible! There were no lives or homes lost!

With all those minerals in the ashes. The land should be pretty green next year.
By the time I scrolled to the last pic I could smell that burned smell you get after a fire ! lol

Yes, it should be nice and green, provided we get enough rain.

I live about 15 miles from this area and boy could we smell the fire! We also had a lot of smoke and ash.
Scary stuff. Glad no one was hurt nor homes lost. Good reporting, Wendy.

Thanks Treepusher!!! Maybe I need to work for the news companies!!
Of course these pictures were taken well after the fire was out. But Wow! it was incredibly close to homes. It is a beautiful area where hills and foothills surround newer homes. It was in between the newer homes and more established homes about a mile the other way.
There were pretty high winds and it was very hot, a very bad combination. I am amazed at what the firefighters did.
Glad you did not have any problems!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good images of desolation....
These are pretty scary events, but it is part of nature's cycle.
We just have be smart enough to keep out of the way or place a wide area of open protection around our dwellings.

I hate to say it under the circumstances, but these are beautiful photos in terms of artistic merit. What a shame there's so much devastation. Those of us who live in CA live in fear during the fire season. These photos are a reminder.

Thanks vicksart!
Several years ago, when at a Photoshop class at the local community college, I saw a couple of photos on the wall done by one of the teachers. They were at least 3 feet wide and 5 feet tall. They were photos of burned areas from the Malibu fire. I was in awe at the beauty of the photos and often think of them.
I saw this opportunity to take similar photos and may go back to find more interesting areas in the fire ravaged foothills. I too see the beauty, but as I said, there was no disaster as far as people and structures, so I was comfortable taking the photos.
