I want to install and OEM windows 8 over Windows 8 pre installed.

http://www.belarc.com has all the info that is on your computer
The only other thing I could recommend is to contact Microsoft Support tell them what your problem is and see what they can do for you
Or google Microsoft Answers and post your problem on the forum and see what the resident experts come up with

There is a certificate of authenticity that comes with all operating systems. It could be a sticker on the disc envelope. If this is a new laptop contact the maker or place of purchase.

RixPix, I didn't get CD's with the laptop. The first thing they tell you to do when you turn it on is make back-up of the system. That's why I'm reinstalling with an OEM. Thanks for your help ya'll
Check for the Windoze Reg. sticker in the battery compartment of your computer. Some manufacturers also put it on the inside of the hard drive cover. Most manufactures stopped putting them on the bottom of laptops because they wear off. Under their license with Microsoft, they are required to affix the physical sticker on every machine sold with Windoze installed.

Good luck with that!
Be SURE to make the CDs as you will need them in future. It is how manufacturers save money; by not including the CD/DVD. There is nothing to gain by installing the OEM version unless you are replacing a Home version with a Professional version.
You are likely to find your laptop has proprietary drivers installed that are not on the OEM disk. So when you foolishly install the OEM disk over the proprietary installation your laptop will no longer fully function properly.
Make the CDs yourself and not install the OEM version. Will take less time and your laptop will still function.
I wish you well.
I'd hold off on doing anything with Windows 8.
Microsoft has acknowledged it has problems and is not popular so
they are supposedly redoing it. Bringing back the START button, I'm
told.
