The Meaning of EPS

I recently purchased some software from a company called Contenta Software. The product I purchased opens up many kinds of files. What I was interested in opening were PCDs on Kodak CDs, which the customer service folks at Adobe tell me PhotoShop CS5 no longer opens.

I ordered a back-up disc and when it arrived yesterday I discovered that it seems to have three Programs on it. The first one was the product I ordered, which I guess I now own. Two other products were also on the disc. Each had a 30-day trial period before they would stop working unless you bought that particular program. I tried one of them, Images2PDF. I was able to choose images, then have them turned into a series of PDFs that I think would be great for publishing a book of one's photos. The other one, also called Images2PDF, had a notation on it about EPS.

After all this long-winded explanation, can anyone tell me what EPS means and how one might use it ?

"EPS" stands for Encapsulated PostScript, a relatively ancient desktop publishing file format from way back in the early 90s or so.
