Here we have a rather delightful UK moth, the Puss Moth (Cerura vinula), medium large, with a wingspan of up to 70mm. This is a male, as evidenced by the feathery antennae used to detect the pheromones given off by the females.

I believe the name "puss moth" refers to the cat-like hair on the head and body, but I always think that it looks more like a Dalmatian dog!

Canon 7D at ISO 160, Canon 100mm L macro lens, 1/40-sec at f/18, natural light, on a tripod

Nice. It might be a tad bit over-sharpened, but I like how you held the detail in the whites.

Welcome back!

Very nice! I hope you didn't 'handle' the caterpillar stage.

Thanks LoneRangeFinder, Still finding my way around on Elements, so can sometimes be a bit heavy handed on the sharpening! :D

Many thanks gym - I have never seen the caterpillar, but it is spectacular and bizarre and right up there on my wish list :)
