I've never done BIF before, mostly because the birds in AZ are too small. But I ran across this GBH on a hike and couldn't help myself. So did I join the club with all the Floridians? Actually, I was on the hike, not the bird.

Thank you for your kind words. This pond is at about 7,000 ft elevation, and it has been so dry, I didn't even think it would have water. When I got there, the forest service was stocking it with trout, and this guy was just waiting.

Well if these are your first attempt they are perfect captures, sharp as needed
These birds are never easy to photograph at the best of times.

I keep trying to get decent BIF's. I usually end up with BOG's (birds on Ground).
