I bought a used spyder2 pro calibrator. I go through the calibration process just fin until I have to align the spyder with the screen image. I align the two and click "next". A bright white rectangle appears with a status bar and the word "Measuring..." on the bottom. The status bar does not move and the rectangle stays bright white. I left it like this overnight and awoke to the same thing. Has anyone seen this or know how to fix this? I have searched the internet with no luck.
Does the spyder light up at all when it starts the measuring process? I believe it should so if it isn't I'm guessing it's not communicating with the computer?
How old a monitor are you trying to calibrate?

Did you go to
http://spyder.datacolor.com/ and get the latest version of the software for your device? IIRC, there were issues with running older versions of the software on Win7 [and Win8?]
Does it have the baffle/filter assembly for LCD screens? Should be with soft felt pads not just suction cups.

There is no external light on the Spyder itself. When I setup the unit I had to specify the model of the spyder. When I chose Spyder2 the serial number of the unit popped up so I believe there is some communication.

The Spyder2 unit is not compatible with my OSX. I did follow the instructions on the manufacturers website and downloaded the Spyder3 Express software.

I did get the needed software from this website. I am running OSX Lion. 10.8.3. This website directed me to use the Spyder3 Express software.
I contacted datacolor support and they told me the Spyder2 unit is not compatible with the newer displays. Their solution is to purchase a Spyder4.

Your should be fine...as far as the age of the monitor...you might consider updating to Spyder 4 Elite
I think if I revert back to a earlier OS X version I can use the spyder2 on my MAC. My question is can I revert back, use the spyder2, and then go back to my current OS X. Anyone with MAC experience able to answer my question?
