Needing some help determining the optimum file size for downloading to a DVD. For work flow purposes I will need to load approximately 200-300 images.

Many thanks for your help

What will the DVD be used for? If for storage use the original file sizes. If for viewing you can choose size based on how you want them to be viewed.

Figuring 4.7 GB per DVD and storing 300 images, you can probably use a file size of about 15 MB. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I've been using DL DVDs. As the name implies, they hold twice as much but don't cost twice as much. I get them from http://www.supermediastore.com.

Clients? I'm my own client. :D My son occasionally makes videos for others, and sometimes we use the DL, depending on the length.

That's the key to success in life: make people think you know more than you do. :D

I would keep them at the max size & add the best pic's only. I don't know how you go but I take lots of pic's of which some I could cull out. It's good for your image to display only the best. Mediocre pic's tend to detract from the goodies if they're all mixed up. So fill your disc with the best. If too many, make 2 discs. Big is beautiful in my H opinion.

I looked at their site - very impressive, with a nice video. You have them make a DVD box graphic/insert? Have you ever made an album through them?

DVDs can store about 4.3 GB of pictures. Just use another DVD if you run out of space.

The TRICK to using DVDs is to do everything you can to burn the disc as SLOWLY as you can. If you have a PC, this is nearly impossible, which is why the PC industry officially stated CDs and DVDs should never be used for important data.

Burning slow causes deeper pits. Deeper pits survive MUCH better than shallow pits from fast burning.

I have CDs burnt SLOWLY back in 1986 which are still fine.

If you want archival storage, only MDisk offers this, which requires a special drive to burn them. MDisk is literall etched in stone. The archival life should be about 1,000 years. MDisk is DVD size and capacity, and after burned, works in any standard DVD reader/player.

I just entered my first order for one of my high school seniors. I also use their MpixPro as a 2d party vendor on my website and have been extremely impressed with the quality of their finished products!!
