Editing in PSE 11 from LR4

I'm having trouble getting LR to recognize images edited in PSE from LR and saved as a tiff. I import my .cr2 in LR and perform basics then I "edit in" pse. PSE opens with image and I was told to "save as" and omit the -edit part of the filename so that LR catalog can recognize the image.

I've done so. And the file is saved with the original name and a .tiff ext. However, in going back to LR, I need to import it into the program...as its in the correct folde r where original raw is but not in catalog.

What am I doing wrong? I do have my ext editor preferences set to stack w/original.

Thanks

Save, next dialog box save, replace, okay. Go back to LR where your PSE edit will be alongside the original. :)

Yes, do a Save, not a Save As.

Exactly as others have said. Just save. The file will have edit appended to the name but will open fine in LR.

Thankyou....I did just that and it worked! Things could get a little hairy if I make more than one edit in pse. As i have discovered, it apends many edits to the file name.

By clicking just "save", does it also save the edited image to the original folder that it came from on the harddrive, or just back to LR4?

It doesnt let me just save. That area is grayed out, I can only save as and saves it back to where the original folder is and is also in LR catalog.

The same exact thing I just said in another thread that a guy asked the same question but instead he uses CS5 and LR4.

Edit image best you can in LR4
Ctrl-E to edit in PSE
Finish editing in PSE and then Ctrl-S to save as a psd in same folder as the raw image. LR4 will have it now. But if you flatten and use save-as or save to web you will need to right click on the folder in LR and Sync that folder. It will find the unsynced file and allow you to import it. The only automatic way it works is to just save or Ctrl-S which is the same as going to File>Save.....

That was the wrong advice.

You "edit in" PSE and then when you are done, flatten the file (i.e. no layers) and then just close PSE. The file you are editing is ALREADY IN LR....it was there the minute you chose "edit in"

Just close PSE, it will ask if you want to save...say yes..it will ask the location...just say ok....it will ask if you want to overwrite...say yes....don't change anything...just keep pushing "ok."

PSE will close, and LR will have the file.

You don't click "save" from PSE.

You just close PSE and say "ok" or "yes" to all the pop up boxes.

You don't initiate the save from PSE.

After editing in PSE, don't click anything in PSE.

Just close PSE and say "yes" or "ok" to all the popups. it will automatically save the file, save over the old file and save in the same location.

Thx rpavich. Good to know different ways of saving images. As I noted, pse does not let me execute the "save" command when exiting pse...only "save as". I figured out that LR already names the file with an apended -edit to the name as soon as I select "edit in" in LR. I selected the "save as" when done editing/flattenimg the image in pse...answer yes/ok to overwriting the image etc. I go back into LR and the apended file with the -edit in the name is right next to the raw in LR. Its wierd that I get the "save" greyed out in pse.

I noticed that in pse...when using the guided mode, unless you hit "done" after your edits...save is greyed out
