My brother wants to get rid of his Cannon 1D mk ii cheap he says he will give it to me for 250.00. Sounds good to me but I have a 5d mk ii and I love it. I`m thinking of using the 1d as a back up. Has any one had any experience with this older pro camera. And could offer me any advice.

It was a great camera and it is still a good camera. The price your brother is asking is more than fair. If your going to use it as a back up it will be a great learning tool.

They still command $350 - 500 (from realistic sellers) depending on condition and accessories. I think the crop factor is 1.3, that's a bigger sensor than the Rebel series, but not full frame. You'll find it quite acceptable.

Thanks all, I think I will take it of my little brothers hands He only used it twice. Eyes and bank account are bigger than his photographic commitment.

I've had both those cameras... I'd go for the 1DmII in an instant.
