Thanks angler. This was part of a very large brood. Here is another shot which would have benefited from a polarising filter but I can count 11 goslings. Also present was a third adult showing similar behaviour to that observed by Linda from Main in an earlier post. http://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-116603-1.html In that case it invovled different species but geese seem to be ready to share childcare.
