I bought two canon extensions, 12 &25 to use with my 100mm macro lens The instructions say not to use more than one tube at a time ? I understood they are made to be stacked to get closer to your subject. Right or wrong

Extension tubes are quite often stacked, which does allow your lens to get closer to subject. With "Auto" extension tubes, you can focus wide open, and the camera will close-down aperture for proper exposure. With "simple" extension tubes, there is no communication between camera and lens, so you must close-down after manual focus, but before photograph, or manually focus through a closed-down lens (more difficult with stacked tubes).

Do you have simple or auto-extension tubes?

Best test is to photograph a metal mm rule with the tubes and the lens at 1:1. 24mm should be the measure at 1:1; from there it's math

You need to measure for yourself, using this metric ruler technique.

Here are the dimensions of your sensor (22.2-mm wide), to compare with your captured Field of View.

Sounds like you bought the canon extension tubes. I was just given the 12mm and put it with the Vivitar extension tubes (also auto) and it works fine.

Oh, I screwed up with the "24-mm". Not paying attention. Your Canon should be closer to 22mm across.

My bad.
