Picasa ( a free editor from Google) also will show shutter counts. I've attached a screenshot that shows this. Download so you can view it larger... Picasa is a pretty good basic editor & organizer as well. I used to use it almost exclusively...
Hi, Is it possible to determine a shutter count on a Nikon D40? If I can, how do I do it? And, why would I care?

You must remember that if there has been any "firmware" updates to the camera the number of shots taken will be from the latest firmware update. I am not positive about Canon but with each firmware upgrade on a Nikon camera body the shot actuation is reset to zero.

After looking at your picture had to go look at picasa and it doesn't show shutter count on mine anywhere. shows it above the gps on yours mine has the lens than the serial number, nowhere to be found on any of my pics in picasa. dont know what the difference could be
