An interview with Sundance

1) How long have you been into photography and what got you started?
I have been taking pictures since I was 8 or 9 year old but bought my first SLR in 1969 when I took a photo class at the local JC. I think it was a Pentax View Finder.

2) Have you had any formal training and what kind of photography do you do most?
Not really. Mostly, advice and encouragement from friends, relatives and now, from here at UHH. I did take Photog. 101 back in '69

3) What inspired you to take your winning shot?
My Grand Daughter was here for breakfast so when ever the kids come, out comes the camera. She just looked like a photo that morning.

4) What equipment did you use and was there any special setup?
That was taken with a Canon Rebel XTi with a Canon EF-S
18-55 kit lens. No special setup, just spontaneity

5) Would you change anything if you could do it again?
I might remove the 'sippy-cups' from the table. (at least one of them)

6) If you couldn't do photography what else would you do?
I do many things already - Home repair (lots of experience there due to 6 rental units) and a background in carpentry. Another passion is gardening. I grow some of our own food.

7) Is there somewhere we can see more of your work?
Not at this time. I have wanted to post some photos somewhere but ... (tons of 'buts' ) Only here on the hog so far.

An interview with auntmary

1) How long have you been into photography and what got you started?
how long - 30 plus years; what got me started - I went on a ski trip to upstate NY with my siblings and stopped at West Point. While there they were goofing around with one of the canons and I snapped a pic with an instamatic. The background was bright, so you know the rest. I decided I wanted to learn photography at that point.

2) Have you had any formal training and what kind of photography do you do most?
I took a couple of continuing education courses at the local JUCO and I read a lot. Nature, sports, landscapes.

3) What inspired you to take your winning shot?
I was cruising around the lake looking for opportunities and this one presented itself.

4) What equipment did you use and was there any special setup?
Canon T1I with Sigma 150-500 lens.

5) Would you change anything if you could do it again?
It would have been nice if the heron didn't have a stick going up along side his head, but he wasn't moving.

6) If you couldn't do photography what else would you do?
I am retired, so I do pretty much whatever pleases me within obvious financial constraints.

7) Is there somewhere we can see more of your work?
I submit fairly often to ExploremyKC.com

An interview with robartphoto

1) How long have you been into photography and what got you started?
always liked taking photos as far as digital its been about 5 or so years

2) Have you had any formal training and what kind of photography do you do most?
No formal training at all. I search the web for info.

3) What inspired you to take your winning shot?
usually I have Irish oats for breakfast but this time I decided to have eggs. when I cracked one open I said ouch (like I hurt the egg) and then it came to me to put frightened faces on them as if they just saw there friends fried in the dish.

4) What equipment did you use and was there any special setup?
I used my Sony A 77 18-55 mm lens. set at Aperture priority with the ISO at 400. I had the eggs behind the plate sitting on scotch tape spools. the only light was what came in through the kitchen window. I used black magic marker to put the faces on the eggs. I don't have much equipment not even a tripod.

5) Would you change anything if you could do it again?
nothing except I might use red marker for the woman's mouth.

6) If you couldn't do photography what else would you do?
if I couldn't do Photography Id probably CRY. actually I am also a scroll saw artist. I make little clocks and patriotic things when I'm not shooting photos.

7) Is there somewhere we can see more of your work?
I have some of my photos on fototime robartphoto@fototime.com mainly family and this Italian group I belong to called the Giglio boys of East Harlem a couple of times a year my group builds a Giglio its about 3 or 4 stories high. we put an Italian Band of ten men on it then and as they play we pick up the Giglio and dance to Italian Giglio Music. you can Google dance the Giglio and you will see what I'm talking about.
by the way I love the weekly theme's
