Hello, can anyone help me with what I am doing wrong as far as getting good picture quality? The photo looks good but when I zoom in at all it turns into a mess. I would really like to blow this one up but not if it turns out so bad.
Is it my settings?
I have it on AV ISO 100 and this was a f22 I think. single shot, al servo, landscape, and I used the tripod with a 2 second delay.
Im at work so I dont have the rest of the details with me.
I really love landscape photography and find this is happening in a lot of my shots. I just cant work out where I am going wrong.. Any suggestions would be hugely appreciated. Thankyou :)

Is the 2nd one uploaded with the "full size" original for the download?
If so, it is way too small to be printed above 5x7 without losing a lot.
What camera are you using and what is the maximum size file you can capture? (size in pixels, please)

Along with what Wahawk asked, what format did you shoot in, jpeg, raw? And while we are at it, what post-processing do you do and what software do you have.

This is a copy I bought to work with me. I thought I was shooting in raw but I will have to check the camera. Its a canon 7d and I am still in the learning phase. Im not sure what the maximum size file is?

I think I must be in jpeg, I didnt check that with the camera. I have lightroom 4 that I use. Nothing has been done with this picture. :)

Can you post the ORIGINAL straight out of camera, click on the 'store original'.
I think this copy has been resized.

Was your, "koalas and friends" post taken with the same camera? Nothing wrong with those.

You shot at f/22. Your lens may not be as sharp at this aperture as a bit more wide open. This by itself may not answer your problem, but it can be a significant factor for some lenses.

Take it off AI servo. Thats for moving subjects. Turn off IS and auto focus.
Manual focus using live view will make it tack sharp.

I think if you look at the original, directly from the camera, you will find a much larger image that can be printed to 16x20 inches or larger. That is if you have the camera set to take the largest possible images!

I think F22 might be the problem, it's not always a good thing to go the far end of F range, I usually go up to a couple of stop below say around F18.

With this one, very well done, I have to wonder if perhaps you are't being overpowered by the number of pilings in the picture. For me personally I would say, well it's entirely to busy and I would look for something a bit more settled. The quality of your work is very good but it's just like a family reunion, Ya got to many cuzins sitting at the table.

Thankyou all so much for your replies, sorry I have been offline and just got back.
I have looked at the comments and taken on board your suggestions. I did manage to solve my biggest problem and that was when I was exporting my images from LR they were down too low. I have now fixed that and can blow my photos back up again.
I have also learned a bit more from you all and am most grateful!
Cheers
Lauren
