Is Digital Manipulation An Enhancement or Does It Contaminate An Original Image ?
Let me just state for the record, when I first got in to photography my belief was more in the category of being a ' purest ' when referring to digital enhancements or manipulation of an image.
Now I am very much a fan of this genre and also practitioner of it. I believe my opposition initially was simply because I did not possess the knowledge nor have the financial resources to purchase special effects software.
This genre allows me to explore possibilities of new definitions of what art is but most importantly what pleases me and gives me joy.
Just because you take one of YOUR own photos and apply special effects does not disqualify you as a photographer, it is simply another tool available much like a new brush is to a painter.
These are my thoughts on the subject, if you share or if you disagree with me, please join in commentary.
I have posted some of my S.E images.

Why do you think you have to justify yourself.
I think they are very good/abstract photographs, more art than photography, whilst number 1 or 2 are not for me they are technically fine for someone.
I do however like the oil painting

I like your work! Different strokes for different folks, how boring would the world be if we all did the same thing!
Since you like doing "digital manipulation" of images, go to my friend's web site and see what she does using the artful method:
http://dchaponot.com/index.html.
You'll be surprised what can be done with an original image when combined with other "original images." Many of the pictures she uses were shot in the vicinity where I live and were taken before moving to her new location.
