I've been a lurker here for over a year and I really enjoy the information shared here. So I purchased the nikon 18-300 for my D3100 and picked it up at the post office and was driving home and saw this heron along the river when the ice was going out about a month ago. So this is the first shot with my new lens, fresh out of the box.

Lovely - Love the way the White on the Heron's Back joins with the white of the ice in the 1st photo. Thankyou for sharing.

Pretty good for a first set of shots with a new lens. Tough lighting conditions with the overcast and snow. Good luck and have fun withthe lens and post more photos!

Thanks for the replies. I had both printed at a kiosk at Walgreens and took them to work. Most like second one, but I like the first more. I was very happy with the 5x7s i had printed there.
