Lighting ok?

I have a hard time with the lighting in photo's, I did these today which was kind of an overcast and used a flash, any suggestions?

Cute baby and nice job....but there is not enough light on her face. You can change that in post processing, but it would be better to shoot it so you there is more light on her face. Did you use the on camera flash?

Lovely pix, Emmasmom.
Looks as if the auto exposure on your camera has been set to overall and with the large white area of the tee shirt has left the kid's face slightly under-exposed..
Try using spot metering on your camera to see if gives better results.
You could buy a light meter and use that for perfect exposure.
Finally, try flash on grass area, which should give you a pretty close exposure and then go manual and set camera using results from grass and photograph your kid.
Shots look a little soft.
Not sure if you're focussing on the eyes.
You need to give EXIF details to help pinpoint solution.

What it looks like he did was click on 'Enhance' in the top menu bar and then click on 'Adjust lighting'. Adjust slider on 'Lighten shadows' to get the desired effect. This is done in Photoshop Elements. I used PSE 8. Or you can try adjusting the brightness and/or contrast in other editors.
